PROTECTING YOUR PROFESIONAL LICENSE: WHAT’S DOCUMENTATION GOT TO DO WITH IT? (1.5 Contact Hours) Kathleen M. Gialanella, R.N., ESQ
Even when nurses deliver care with skill and compassion, unintended documentation errors or omissions can lead to legal accusations or claims that can imperil one’s career.
Likewise, practicing outside of one’s scope, due to a lack of education, training or credentials,
can lead to similar danger. Taught by a healthcare lawyer who is also a nurse, this program will explore legal self-defense, documentation skills, and scope of practice boundaries for nurses and other healthcare professionals. Outcome: The learner will recognize the legal dos and do nots of documentation, scope of practice in a variety of settings and potential consequences for failure to properly document
