Local 5138 Bargaining Update: Session # 2, March 23, 2023
HPAE Local 5138 held a second day of negotiations with HMH today. After reviewing the proposals that HMH presented to us yesterday, we met with them and went over their proposals. We had forward movement with our negotiation today. We now have a total of 6 tentative agreements. The union continues to maintain their proposals around improved staffing, wages, and health and safety issues.
The local bargaining team presented a “Day in The Life of A Nurse at SOMC” to management and it was well-received.
We will be going back to the table tomorrow, March 24th and we are scheduled to meet again on March 29th and 30th. We are asking management to come to the table to be prepared to discuss outstanding proposals.
As we continue with the contract negotiations, we need to keep in mind that our strength in everything we do, including these negotiations, is our solidarity. Along with our Contract Action Team (CAT) communicating with members, we will continue to do an update after every negotiating session to keep everyone informed of the progress.
