Local 5105 Bargaining Update, May 23, 2023

At yesterday’s Virtual bargaining session, we did make progress on secondary issues, but management is not showing any willingness to move off of their Clinical grouping language and per diem language which we know will negatively affect recruitment and retention of members. Also, we continue to remain miles apart on our top issues, which you know are Staffing, WAGES and Health and Safety.

Thursday’s session at 9:00am will focus on the per-diem language in the first part of the day, so while all members are welcome, we are specifically inviting our per-diem members to come speak out. We do plan to discuss our TOP ISSUES during this in person all day session as well. We NEED to see that our employer is serious about our top three issues which we KNOW will keep our members at the bedside caring for patients. We will be at the Barry Brown Health Education Center (HEC). Here is the link for registration: https://www.hpae.org/2023/03/local-5105-negotiations-session-sign-up/

We did not give a 10-day notice for an informational picketing to the hospital yesterday, but we may be forced to do so during our next bargaining session on Thursday depending on what we hear from management. Please keep on HIGH ALERT for possible CALL TO ACTION. If we decide we do need to call for an informational picket, we will need ALL available nurses to participate and make our collective UNION voices heard. If you have not been to one of our actions/activities and want a fair contract that we deserve-NOW will be the time to SHOW UP!

Also, we will be holding a VIRTUAL CAT Team/Rep meeting tomorrow at 7:30 PM to plan for our potential informational picket, so any members who have thought about increasing their involvement in our Union, now is the time! Here is the link for the Zoom:
