Local 5118 Negotiations Update, May 1

We did not reach any tentative agreements on Wednesday. They gave us several counter proposals to review all of which were non-economic. We reviewed them and will respond on May 8. Nothing earth shattering.

We pushed them to agree to give us their health insurance presentation on May 8. We expect that will include a review of the plan which also includes the cost for ER visits, Co-pays, out of pocket deductibles, etc. The second part of what they may give us is their initial contract language proposal. This is the amount we pay for the coverage.

Strategically, when the time is right, we will respond to their economic proposal using their “concept.” The concept includes a flat dollar amount, percentage increases, preservation of the step increases and adjustments for the nurses who are off the step scale. WE DO NOT AGREE WITH THEIR INITIAL AMOUNTS FOR ANY OF THOSE PIECES. We also have our Retention Bonus proposal that they have rejected so far.

We have seven sessions left before the contract expires on May 31.
