HPAE has submitted to Governor-elect Murphy's healthcare transition committee a list of healthcare priority action items for the new administration.
The state has approved the sale of Meadowlands Hospital Medical Center, the Secaucus hospital where admissions have plummeted under private ownership, to a multimillionaire real-estate developer who owns a Bergen County surgical center.
Cooper University Health Care said Friday it "will no longer pursue the acquisition" of Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center and other assets of a Catholic-run health system.
The Labor Management/Safety meeting was held November 28th. In addition to a follow-up discussion regarding "old business," the committee discussed safety, staffing, and other key issues.
A meeting of the Local 5106 Rep Council was held November 20th. In attendance were Betsy Nulty, Kathy Boardman, Pat Haynes, Venus Weaver, Mike Wilson, Richelle Kozak and Sue Clements.
We had our third bargaining session with VNA on December 7th. We were introduced to the new VNA HR Director, Gene Karlen. We also signed off on five tentative agreements.
We had our third bargaining session with Wanaque management on December 5th at the Holiday Inn Express. Although our contract expired October 31, 2017, we have a contract extension and all of the provisions of the contract are in effect.
Local 5058's New Nurse Caucus held two well-attended “Know Your Rights” workshops this Monday. The caucus members learned about the practical applications of using our legal rights under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), as well as our "Weingarten Rights,"
HPAE members and staff are attending the National Conference on Worker Safety and Health (#COSHCON17) this week from Tuesday to today. The conference is being held near Baltimore, Maryland.
